What to do when you lose your conditional green card

It often happens that during your CPR period, you or your family member may lose conditional green card. What do you do? Here is the step you need to take.

1. Make an Infopass Appointment at the USCIS Field Office nearest to your U.S. residence. If you don't know how to do this, go to www.uscis.gov and follow the procedure.

2. Explain your situation, and obtain 1-year temporary I-551 stamp in your passport.

3. Apply for I-90 replacement of green card application form.

4. Make sure you submit the address change form via mail or online if you happen to move before you receive the replacement green card.

If you lose the conditional green card after you submitted I-829 application, you can just obtain temporary I-551 stamp in your passport without applying for a replacement green card.
